Altering topology with Edit Mesh tools

- [Narrator] For many terrains, the Maya sculpt tools will suffice to get almost any shape that we want. However, in some cases, you'll need to resort to a topology modification node, such as those found in the Edit Mesh menu. For example, extrude. If you want a sheer cliff face, you'll probably need to extrude upward in order to have enough detail on those cliff faces. If you're going to use those topology modification tools, then you'll need to pay close attention to the Maya construction history, because there are some real limitations around what you can do. For example, here I've got a polygon disc primitive. I'll select that and in the Channel box go to its input node, we see it has a certain number of subdivisions. And as we saw in a previous movie, the disc primitive has the unique property of allowing us to reduce the number of subdivisions while maintaining the overall shape of her mesh sculpted model.…
