- [Narrator] When we animate dialog we're used to having access to whatever mouth shapes we need but sometimes you'll have a character that might have only two states, open and closed. If you want like a little animated robot with like a domey head, up down up down. Or a talking tankard, or you know something that we see a lot in animation. How do you do dialog with that? How can I make an ooh shape if it physically can't and the design won't let you? Well if you're my age or younger you've grown up with Sesame Street and other puppet shows. And they do a fine job of doing believable dialog and many of the puppets, think Cookie Monster if my memory's right, can't do an ooh shape. He's just open and closed. Kermit can sometimes be pursed to get like sort of an ooh shape but it varies from puppet or muppet to puppet. And you know whatever thing that you're trying to make speak.
