- [Instructor] In the previous movie we looked at how the atmosphere can affect the way that we perceive color and tone because it fades things out in terms of tone and color, the further they are from the camera. So speaking of cameras, cameras also have their part to play in these backgrounds. So a camera can focus on different parts of the image so in this case it can focus on what's near, it can focus on the middle, it can focus on what is far, or it can focus on everything, depending on the settings of the camera. So if you're familiar with cameras you know that you can change the aperture and this can push things in focus or out of focus, and a lot of people like a shallow dept of field because it looks kind of cinematic or artistic, but sometimes a deep focus could be better because more of the image is in focus.
