Color vs. pencil test

- [Instructor] Many years ago when I worked in hand drawn classical animation, one of the animators told me that when you do a pencil test, basically, when you do your scene, it's drawn, and you shoot it on camera. It'll look a little faster than it will when it's colored. And I always remember this and wonder was it true or not. So, what I've done, I've taken one of my old scenes. And I've done two versions. Here's the pencil test version. And we're going to apply color. And I want you to see if it looks any slower. And we'll cycle it back again. I honestly don't know. I really don't. Sometimes I look at this and I think, "Okay, that looks a little faster". I mean if it is a little slower, it's slight. It's not huge. It might be the perceived difference between 24 frames a second than 23. It's really, really mild. But anyway, I thought that was interesting. In case anyone ever says it to you. Maybe don't worry…
