- [Instructor] For many materials, you'll need to go beyond solid color, and when you do that, you'll need to add textures to your materials. So let's take a look at some of the basics of how to apply textures. So here I have a basic sphere, and if I go into the attribute editor, you'll see I have one material applied called blinn1. Now we can certainly change the color to a solid color, but I want to add a texture. So we can do that by clicking in this little checker box to the right. Now this is a Maya standard material, but just about any material you'll encounter will have this for each of the attributes. So I'm going to go ahead and click on this checker box and it brings up the Create Render Node menu. Now this gives you all the options for that particular attribute.
