- [Instructor] One of the things that either you love or hate is the need to do a crowd scene from time to time. In the traditional era, crowd scenes were actually kind of boring but easy to do because people weren't too picky about them. There are different ways that we can treat them in computer animation by nesting the animation inside a symbol or a component, or if you work in Flash or Harmony you can do that and in CGI, some problems will do that too. If you want to make a crowd scene, you only have to animate one character and then duplicate that symbol to make four or five or 700 extras that are just the same. The trick is to make variations in the symbols as best you can so that you don't get it all homogenous. Let's see how we do this with a very simple crowd scene. This action here is extremely basic and I deliberately hacked this out.
