- [Instructor] In the previous movie, I showed you how to construct a character, how to put the bits and pieces together in space so that it looks solid, but now let's look at some of the design principles so that you can get the shapes to look as strong as they can. First thing to do is to draw a gesture drawing, and this is done very quickly without an eraser. Do not go in erasing mistakes. Draw fast. Each gesture drawing should take you no more than a minute. You should be able to throw these things down. If it's no good, throw it away, do another one. If your gesture drawing is good, the next phase would be a rough pass, and the rough pass will start to block in the various parts of the character design. If you're still happy with it, then it will be a tie down, and then the final is the clean up, and this would be done, back in the traditional period, so that we can paint this onto a cell, and that would be the…
