- [Instructor] No course on animals in motion would be complete without mentioning the famous Victorian photographer, Eadweard Muybridge. And he took a series of photographs of animals in motion. And it's well worth reading his biography page on Wikipedia, not least of which for his involvement in the case of a homicide. He was actually guilty but yet found not guilty. It was considered justifiable, so he's a really fascinating character. Let's move on and have a look at his photographs. So, Muybridge was hired by one of these very wealthy business people or speculators or whoever he was to solve a bet, and the bet was is there any point in the run cycle of a horse where all four legs are off the ground. They just could not tell by looking at it. It was simply too fast. So, the solution with the cameras of the time, they didn't have film cameras because we're talking about the 1870s, so it was a really ingenious solution to set up up to 24 cameras and then put a series of strings…
