Essential technical aspects of animation

- [Dermot] Hi, I'm Dermot O'Connor, and welcome to Essential Technical Aspects of Animation. Many animation courses often leave out important information such as footage, twos and threes, the difference between drawings, exposures, and frames, or of planning methods like swept box notes, all of which I'll explain in this series. Productions can also be impacted by deceptively minor aspects like naming conventions, so understanding these techniques and methods can often help or hinder a production. I'll also do an overview of the traditional animation process, from gesture drawings to cell painting or digital ink and paint. Even if you don't work in hand-drawn animation, it can still be useful to have an understanding of the origins of traditional tools, like X sheets or dope sheets, and how these have evolved into the modern digital timeline. So let's get started.
