- [Instructor] Now we're going to take a close-up look at the eyes, specific parts of the body, the figure. And the eyes are the most important part of the entire character. And they're also, as it turns out, I think the most difficult, and it's the problem where a lot of CGI stumbles on. You'll see these amazing renders, except for the eyes, and they look like little dead marbles. So the strange thing is, if you're a traditional animator, it's much easier because you don't have to worry about these hyper-realistic eyeballs. The human brain will accept this style of eye as real much more easily than it will an amazingly-rendered CGI, computer-animated project because it's too close to reality almost, so at least we have that advantage going for us. So remember that the eye is a ball, it's a sphere, and so you're not drawing, it's easy to look at it and fall into the trap of thinking that it's just a round curve in the-- a circular ellipse in the face.
