- [Instructor] One of the great dangers that an animator can face is losing sight of what the purpose of animation is. And it's as simple as this. You have to create the illusion that the animation is alive. That the character you're looking at has a mind. So, you want the audience to believe that the images on the screen have souls. A great exercise that you'll need to work towards this is the classic flour sack. Here I've made a short series of images of a sack of flour in different attitudes. So let's take a look at each one. This is our first image, our starting position, and just a reference in place like an actual inanimate bag of flour. So, I'm going to consider this our neutral pose, our zero pose, and everything will work out of that and try to match it, as well as we can.
