- [Instructor] The signature scene of this course is this example animation of a wizard performing a quick, but very richly animated, turn. This kind of work was typical of the level reached by Disney and the other studios by the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. To illustrate the principle that appeal and technique are not necessarily the same, let's look at the previous style of animation from the 1920s, the famous rubber hose look. Now this is an example that I created myself in my tips and tricks series on how to animate in the style of a different era. And one of the fun things about this era was they hadn't quite discovered a lot of the modern techniques. So as a result, it's not as technically sophisticated in many areas, but it really is appealing. People love this stuff even today. So at this time they didn't really have a sense of things like squash and stretch, anticipation, or maybe timing was very rough as well, very smooth.…
