Leading on walks

- [Instructor] Let's look at leading actions in walks and runs and how they can create personality or emotions. This cocky walk cycle is the result of leading the action from the chest, and you can see the leading area in red. If we lead with the chin instead the result is still a determined walk cycle, but this is more of a I'm going to give this guy a piece of my mind walk than a very arrogant or a cocksure one. If we lead with the hips or the midsection we have a very jaunty walk, and it's still very upbeat, but it's less aggressive. It's more like saying I'm on top of the world. And you can transition from one leading action into another as the scene requires it. As part of my course on animating monsters and aliens I want to design a typical slow zombie walk. The solution was to use a series of staggered leads so that instead of a natural walking action different parts of the body lead the action at different times.…
