Lightmass portals for interior spaces
- [Instructor] No matter how good we get at creating global illumination solutions in and on real scene, it is typically going to be the case when creating interiors, that we need to give lightmass a little bit of a helping hand, especially so when lighting a scene using an emissive material or skylight or as we are doing here, a high-dynamic range image as the primary light source. With our light build set to use the production quality setting then, and with a number of skylight bounces already added in the world settings tab, what we're seeing here is the GI result that we are getting. As we look around the level using the book mapped cameras that are already set up, we can see that lightmass has done a pretty decent job of bouncing light around the environment, although if we look more closely at some of the hard to reach places, particularly by pressing the nine key, we can see that the solution is perhaps lacking a little bit in terms of the light levels found in some areas.
