Mirror and merge components
- [Instructor] Many times we model symmetrically because a lot of objects in nature are symmetrical. So if we want to, we can just model half of the object, and then mirror that to create the other side. And we can do that using Maya's Mirror command. Now Mirror is great because not only does it create the opposite side, it also welds the seams all together. It's very simple to use. So I'm going to go ahead and select this object, and then under Mesh, we have Mirror. Now, if I want to, I can show the Options box here, and we have a couple of different options here. One is the Mirror Axis, and so that is which axis are we using. And if I look here, I'm mirroring on the x-axis, which is correct. And then are we going to mirror in a positive or a negative direction? I'm going to use the default negative.
