- [Instructor] The last steps of any polygon modeling project include dealing with edge smoothing and the UV layout. We can see on this terrain model that we've got some hard edges, let's soften all those up. Select the model and in the modeling menu set, choose Mesh Display, Soften Edge and that softens all the edges on the model. We see we have a polySoftEdge input node. We can de-select the object and check the results. Let's delete that input node, reselect the object and go back into the menus and choose Edit, Delete by Type, History. We've got our soft edges, now we need to deal with a UVS. Because we extruded this cliff face upward, we're going to see that the UVS have been stretched in that area. In order to see that we can assign a checker map with the object still selected, right click and choose, Assign New Material. Let's make it a surface shader for testing purposes.
