- Poor audio can make the best animation look cheap. So take a few minutes to set up great audio. (lively jazz music) When you're recording live animation using Character Animator, my favorite kind of mic is the headset microphone combo. This is actually what I'm using to record the bulk of this course. One of the reasons I really like this is because as I'm reading the script and looking at my keyboard for doing the triggers and all the different elements that you need to do, you tend to look around, and the mic follows my mouth. So the consistency and volume of my voice is fantastic this way since it tracks with me. I also like using a lavalier. That's why I'm using it to record this video right now. Lavalier is a small mic that fits on your lapel. It's often called a lapel mic as well. And it picks up a small area.
