- [Instructor] In "The Illusion of Life" by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, the great Disney book, they mention one of the great design tricks is texture and they don't mean surface texture of material, they mean line density. If you look at the eyebrows and certain other parts of the body, you'll notice there's more line density or what we call pencil mileage. And usually you're going to put that where you maybe want to focus the eye or the attention of the audience. The eyes would be a really good area to have that. But also, you can often have it on hair and various parts of the costume. And then you might also have areas of intermediate detail. You can see here in green where there's definitely a bit of interesting material going on. You can see the shirt collar has some lines in there as well and then you have large areas where there's really nothing, there's just color, flat color. And that's texture. We…
