Timing and spacing
- [Instructor] Timing and spacing determine the speed and texture of the animation. In the previous movie, we set up the character in each of the basic thumbnailed poses, and this was the result. Very, very basic but functional. So let's take a look for a moment at some of the engineering beneath this. So I've just made them a little paler so we can see the joints. And I've just made these graphics to show us the wrist joints and the wrist joints are as good place to plot as anything. So if I plot each one of these frame by frame, what you'll see is a very smooth timing. They're like railroad tracks. If you were to draw these by hand, it would be very boring because they're completely evenly spaced. And that's because when I set up the first pass, there was no slow in and slow out or ease in and ease out. So you get this very straight arcs, but you also get this very straight timing spacing.
