Understanding XGen attribute expressions

- Unlike the Maya Attribute Editor, the XGen Editor interface and features are dynamic. The specific controls that we see displayed in the XGen Editor are not fixed. If you load a different preset you'll probably see different parameters. That's because we can easily add custom parameters via scripting. This gives us a great deal of power to art direct degenerative properties such as primitive density, size, shape and color. In the primitives and preview output tabs, next to most of the attribute sliders, we'll see a down facing triangle that opens up a pull down list of options. From here we can load an existing expression file from disk. We can create a Ptex map for painting the attribute value or simply reset the attribute to a simple slider with no bells and whistles. The button to the left of that pull-down list opens up the expression editor. So I'll click the expression editor button here on the length…
