Using noise to modulate metalness
- [Instructor] In this exercise we'll put the finishing touches on our composite calcium. So far, we've got our microbeveled edges, we've got our dots in the right scale, got our colors matching and it's all in that herringbone. What I'll do, is take one more look at the reference in here to see if there's anything else I need to add. Looking at the samples here we can see that we're pretty good. It's a fairly smooth floor with those edges showing. We need basically, an even roughness. That is, we want an even spread of those reflections and specular highlight's on the floor. They shouldn't be disturbed by maybe a missing chunk due to a cloud or something. It's really that it's as, well, smooth and even as a luxury vinyl tile can be. What I will do is put in a little bit of a twinkle. Although it's a tile with a printed pattern, we want just a little bit of a variance in the metallic properties, just so it's got a little luster to it.
