- [Instructor] An important principle when you're doing a good pose is knowing where the weight is. This is one of the big things that Milt Kahl used to lecture people about. You know, know where's the weight going? Where's it coming from? Very, very hard to master. Very few people are as good as him, or if any. So, let me see here, my humble attempts to figure out where the weight is. So, when I do a drawing, first thing I do something like this I'm going to do the, basically have a nice line of action regardless of anything else, but when I begin to draw the characters I need to know, this figure down here, he's taken the weight. That braced leg, that's got to be holding up maybe an unrealistic number of figures, but in terms of cartoon physics, that has to be justifiable. So, that's where that red line comes in.
