What you need to know
- [Instructor] Before we begin, let's briefly discuss the course prerequisites, or what you need to know. This course is designed for intermediate Maya users. You should be familiar with core Maya concepts such as nodes and attributes, construction history, and shading networks. Navigating viewports and transforming objects should be second nature to you. Although you don't need to be an expert modeler or material designer, you need fundamental skills in these areas. We'll be building on those foundations to create terrains, scene geometry, and physically based materials. We will be dipping our metaphorical toes into scripting using SE Expression, but the course doesn't assume any prior experience with scripting languages. If you feel you don't have the prerequisite skill set for this course, or if you just need to refresh your memory, check out one of George Maestri's introductory Maya courses such as Maya 2020 Essential Training.
