Where to set your camera
- Placement of your webcam can help you run a smoother production. (intro music) Probably the biggest thing to keep in mind when placing your webcam is to have it directly over your character. So you want to "face straight as you animate" How do you like that, funny, huh? So, we have a double-monitor system here at the studio, so if I had the webcam over my bigger monitor, I'd be looking, I'd have to look this way to see the webcam, or the camera would see my face like this. Well, that doesn't help with animating the character. You want to put it directly over whichever monitor you've got your Character Animator in. The other thing that you want to keep in mind is, especially if you're in a place where other people are around, that you don't have other faces back behind you. 'Cause what can happen is it can jump faces and start tracking someone else. And that'll completely screw up, I mean, look what happened to our character here, when it started looking at the other face. And it…
