- [Instructor] If you decide to render in Arnold, it might make sense to use the Arnold specific materials. That these do have more capabilities than the basic Maya materials. And they will give you a little bit more control over your surfaces. Let's take a look at how to create a basic Arnold surface. So I'm going to go ahead and select these objects. And under the attribute editor you'll see that we have a material called Lambert2 applied. Now if I want to I could go in to Lighting Shading. Assign New Material. Click on Arnold. And scroll down until I find AI Standard Surface. But probably an easier way in this case is to just change the type of material we already have. So in this case it's a Lambert. If I wanted to I could change it to any one of these. But I'm going to find AI Standard Surface. And that's our Arnold Standard Surface.
