Using a laser scanner

I'm going to be using a Laser Scanner in this video in showing the basic process to scan a part. Step one is getting the software setup to read the scanner and fixturing the part correctly so I can use the scanner and get all the way around the part, get all the features that I am going to need. I'm going to be using FARO Laser Scanning Arm. In this case here, you can see there's a little green ring around the scan head. If it's green, it's going to be in the right location. So I need to be a certain distance away from the part to get that good scan data and you can see in the monitor behind me, as I scan the part that data is being brought into the computer. And I need to reposition several times to get all the way around that part as I'm building the part. Now, I have to make sure I'm getting the arm in the right position so it's not being twisted in too many different angles to get that perfect angle to scan that data in.
