The 3ds Max project structure

- [Instructor] In order to work along with the video presentations found in this course, you could if you wanted to make use of files of your own. So long as you are comfortable with adapting what I say and do on screen to your own particular scene setup. Perhaps an easier option in connection with being able to focus on your learning however, would be to work with the provided content via the Exercise Files download. Now whilst you can unzip and place the Exercise Files folder on any storage device that you like, If you would prefer to simply follow along here using the exact same steps that I take, then I would recommend placing that folder on your desktop as I have here. Once you have done that, and in order to next make working with the provided scene files as painless as possible let's take a few moments here to actually set up our 3ds max project folder for the course which we can do by accessing the File menu from inside Max, and then from the project fly-out, choosing the set active project command, after which we can navigate to wherever we have saved our Exercise Files folder, and then set that as the root for our project by selecting it and then hitting the OK button. As an alternative, we could also just open up one of the scene files from the course. And then in the project mismatch dialog that should show up, choose the change project option and Max will do the rest for us. If we are using 3ds Max 2018 or earlier of course, then we will need to do things a little differently by using the set project command from the File menu and then again selecting the Exercise Files folder from wherever we have downloaded it to and with that we are now ready to start taking a look at some of the rendering far compositing tools that can be found inside both V-Ray Next and 3ds Max
