- [Voiceover] As I mentioned earlier, we're going to cut holes for doors and windows using the Boolean compound object, but the Boolean will fail if the topology or structure of the model is not within very strict legal parameters. And in this case, although the model looks fine at first glance, it will not work when we try to cut holes. And the reason is, we have some actually technically illegal polygons. This whole top surface here is one gigantic polygon. We can see that if we select the object and go into Polygon Sub-object Mode and click, and that is all one polygon. And it's actually really, really illegal. We can't really have any polygons that have nested holes inside them, and really ideally to prevent issues with Boolean, every polygon should be four sides on this model. Well, it's relatively easy for us to accomplish that. We can use the Modeling ribbon tools in Editable Poly to cut new edges where we need them. Exit out of sub-object mode.
