- [Voiceover] Just like in the real world, shooting an image requires that you control the light as well as the camera settings. Now, we'll look at exposure controls in 3DS Max. When we created this light, we were prompted whether we wanted to enable the so-called logger rhythmic exposure control. I basically recommend that you never use that type of exposure control. But instead you use the physical exposure control. That's going to work very well with a physical camera. If you're using mental ray, you can use a mental ray exposure control. Let's go into the rendering menu, to exposure control. This opens up the environment and effect dialogue box. Here we can do things like, put an environment map in the background. Here's the exposure control section. Right now, we have no plugin enabled. It says, no exposure control. Let's go ahead and select from that pull down list. Physical camera exposure control.
