Aligning a sun with an environment

- [Instructor] One disadvantage of the Arnold Skydome is that it's not visible in the viewports. If you need to visually align scene objects, such as lights, with a backplate or a skydome, then you can use the environment background slot because it is visible in the viewports. In this case, I have a physical sun and sky providing the illumination and a backplate of clouds similar to what we set up earlier in the course. Let's take a look. We'll go into the render setup dialogue. And in the Arnold Renderer tab, in the environment, background, and atmosphere rollout, I'm in advanced mode. And if we scroll down a little bit, we can see in the emit/affect section, I've disabled specular for the skydome because I want the reflections to come from my custom map down here under background backplate. So here I've enabled specular reflections, and I've applied a color map, which is just increasing or decreasing the gain of my HDRI clouds environment. Let's do a render of this. And we can see…
