Assigning materials to objects

- Materials can be assigned to objects in the scene, in numerous ways, including drag and drop and via a button on the Material Editor toolbar. I've got a material I created in the previous movie. I'll double-click that. It's a physical material with all default parameters. Let's rename it. We'll call it file cabinet. You'll want to change a couple of the basic parameters. Here's the base color. Click on its color swatch. And in the Color Selector, let's plug in some values. I want a light blue, so I'll set the hue to a value of .57, press Tab and set the saturation to .4, press Tab and set the value to .67, and press Enter. Now I've got the light blue color I want. Close the Color Selector. We should also adjust the roughness. That's also known as glossiness or shininess. With a roughness of zero we'll get a perfectly smooth surface, and that will yield perfect mirror reflections. We want a little bit of…
