Assigning materials to objects
- [Instructor] Materials can be assigned to objects in the scene in numerous ways including drag and drop and via a button on the Material Editor toolbar. I've got a material I created in the previous movie, I'll double click that. It's a physical material with all default parameters. Let's rename it. We'll call it file cabinet. We want to change a couple of the basic parameters. Here's the base color. Click on its color swatch and in the color selector let's plug in some values. I want a light blue so I'll set the hue to a value of 0.57, press Tab and set the saturation 2.4, press Tab and set the value to 0.67 and press Enter. Now I've got the light blue color I want. Close the color selector. We should also adjust the roughness, that's also known as glossiness or shininess. With a roughness of zero, we'll get a perfectly smooth surface and that will yield perfect mirror reflections. We want a little bit of…
