Baking to physically based renderer (PBR) materials for export

- [Instructor] The Bake to Texture window makes it easy for us to export a physically based material to another application, such as Unity or Unreal. Let's take a look at the shading network I've created. Open up the Material Editor, and this is the material assigned to the body or the head of the Athena sculpture. And, it's a slightly different version than the ones we've used in previous movies in this series, but it's not that different. Mainly, the only thing I've done here is I've inverted the glossiness, so that I can directly compare the actual roughness as seen here to the baked version. So, we're going to be exporting to a physically based material, which is called PBR, and it's new in 3ds Max. It's a simplified version of the physical material that's set up to emulate the behavior of game engines and real-time applications.
