Controlling global illumination Ray Depth

- [Instructor] Ray Depth controls the global illumination in Arnold. It determines how many times light rays can bounce around the scene to illuminate surfaces. Let's take a look at a rendering with no global illumination, just for comparison's sake. Go to the Render Setup dialog, and in the Arnold Renderer tab, in the Sampling and Ray Depth section, we have Ray Depth, and we see values for the diffuse, specular, transmission, and volume components of the rendering. We're only going to concern ourselves with the diffuse and specular components this time, just to simplify things. Diffuse, of course, refers to reflections from rough surfaces, and specular refers to reflections from shiny or reflective surfaces. Let's bring the ray depth for the diffuse and specular components down to zero, and now we've effectively disabled global illumination.
