Correcting a seam with Align to View
- [Instructor] In the last movie we used transform constraints to shape the sub objects of the seat cushion and create a depression between the cushion and the base. We just push those vertices inward along their local normals. Unfortunately, that introduced some error at the seam where the two halves of the symmetrical model are joined. Let's investigate. I'll select that object and isolate the selection, go to the modify panel and select the symmetry modifier and get in close in that perspective view. Depending on your version of 3d S max, you may see different results. The symmetry modifier was recently updated so there is actually more than one version of the symmetry modifier out there and those different versions handle welding along the seam differently. The old version has a weld threshold that merges vertices within a certain distance. The newer version of symmetry has no wealth threshold and it can only…
