Creating photometric lights

- [instructor] 3ds max provides many powerful options for lighting to produce photorealistic results or stylized renders that might break the rules of physics. We have different types of lights in max. Let's investigate, go to the Create panel and click lights. And we've got a pull down list here with three different categories photometric, standard, and Arnold. The Arnold light category only applies to the Arnold renderer. There's only one light in here the Arnold light and it has many different modes such as area, spotlight and skydome, but it will only work with the Arnold renderer. Standard lights are the legacy lights, and they are not physically accurate. Standard lights work with the Scanline renderer or the Quicksilver hardware render.
