Defining the home grid
- Now that we have a good grasp on how units and scale work in Max, let's set up a new scene with our own chosen units of measurement and sizing for the grid. We'll start by going into the customized menu to units set up. And let's change our display unit scale to metric with units of centimeters and click okay. Now I want to set up the size and spacing of the grid. To do that, go to any one the magnet icons up here on the main toolbar. We have snaps for position and angle and so on. Just right click on any one of those magnet icons and the grid and snap settings window comes up. The snaps tab lets as choose what we want to snap to. I want to see set up the home grid. So go to the home grid tab. And here we have the grid spacing. It's currently set to 25.4 centimeters. And that's 10 inches. I'll set the grid spacing to one centimeter.
