- [Istructor] When it comes to adding a photographic depth of field effect to our renders, whilst rendering with V-Ray in Max. We could for instance render out a ZDepth pass using render elements and then use that in a post-production application to add a depth of field effect after the fact as it were. depth of field effects to our renders though then we will possibly want to make use of the V-Ray cameras built in depth of field functionality and of course when looking to create such effects we do need to keep in mind that aesthetic choices we make regarding the shot we are producing such as the focal length of the lens, placement of the camera, and in scene lighting and exposure can all effect what we are ultimately able to do with depth of field in the scene. For this reason, it would be good to know that any values we work with in this video are going to be specific to this scene and this shot.
