about 3ds Max fluid data channels. These are various types of information that can be stored in the fluids such as the age or velocity of particles. Eventually, we'll get to the point where we can use that information in a shading network or to generate foam particles. But first we need to understand which data channels exist, how they work, how to enable and display them. Today we're going to look at workflows for generating data channels for Arnold or other renderers. I've got a small scale simulation of a tumbler of soda pop spilling onto a table. And we'll need to run that simulation first in order to see any of the data channels. Select the liquid object, go to the animation menu, and choose fluids, simulation view. In the simulation view solver management area open up liquid001. And select the only solver in there, carbonated solver. And then press the start solve button to begin caching the simulation to disk.
