- [Instructor] Using images as a source of lighting in your scene is a great way to bring realism and quality to your rendered images and also control the lighting and reflection seen in your renders. When a image is used as an environment map, it becomes a light source and is used by the Arnold Render to combine with your scene lights to light the instruments in Studio quality renders. An Arnold light can be used as what is called a sky dome. We're not going to use that technique here but we're going to use an alternate method that gives us a little bit more control in my opinion of the look of the final render for design visualization. So, a design vis competes directly with photography but we have the advantages of seeing products before they are manufactured and available for photography. We can view in multiple points of view, easily change that view and do renders from that view, it's cost effective, and so forth. But we must achieve comparable results to high end photography…
