Erasing materials with MAXScript or UVW Remove

is the need to remove materials from a scene. Maybe you're working with a model that you've downloaded from a stock asset website and you need to replace whatever materials were provided. Or maybe you're opening up an old scene that uses a different renderer and again you need to basically wipe out whatever is there. In many cases of 3ds Max, Scene Converter can be of great use to you in these situations, because it can go in and remove any unknown materials and replace them with, for example a physical material. You can even write your own rules for the Scene Converter. But sometimes you just need to completely wipe out whatever's there. And I'll show you a couple of ways to remove materials from a 3ds Max scene and the first is with a simple line of MAXScript code. The first step is to select the objects whose materials we want to remove. We can do that from the Edit menu in this case and just choose Edit, Select All.
