- [Instructor] So we learned in the previous chapter how to both export and then use a procedural Substance file with V-Ray in 3ds Max. But what if we are either handing our scene off to or perhaps ourselves a texture artist who doesn't want or who maybe can't work with Substance files in Max? Well the simple truth is that we can just as easily export bitmaps out of Substance Designer as we can Substance files and then use those to drive the various channels on our materials. What we will want to do in this chapter then is come back to Substance Designer and take a look at how we would go about exporting those bitmap files. Using the same Substance file that we have already worked with then, the very first thing that we will probably want to do is make a decision as to the required resolution of our texture maps given that unlike weather substance, we won't have the luxury of being able to quickly alter the resolution of these in Max anytime we want.
