Fixing asset linking problems
- [Instructor] On occasion, and despite the very best efforts of both myself and the testing team at LinkedIn Learning, you may find on opening the scene file from the exercise files download, that you run into a missing asset scenario as indicated by the warning dialogue that we see here. And whilst there are a few ways in 3DS Max that we could deal with this, my personal approach and sole recommendation would be to simply hit the continue button. And then after using the Shift and T-keys, or after coming to the file menu and reference fly-outs, open up the asset tracking dialogue. Right click on the offending item or items. And then use the set path option to navigate to our exercise files download and then relocate or reconnect the offending item or items. Which if a texture map will typically mean going into the scene assets and images folders in the exercise files project. Once all of that is done, we can close the asset tracking dialogue. And so long as we then re-save our scene file with the new pathing in place, everything should work just fine each and every time we open that file up from now on.
