- [Instructor] For the 2nd part of our GI engine overview we're going to take a look at the remaining two options available to us in V-Ray 5 these being the irradiance mapping and light cache options. Going with the irradiance mapping first of all then, let's switch the primary engine over to that option. And then after resetting our image sampling values to a max of 12 and our noise threshold back to 0.1, take a render using the irradiance mapping defaults. With what we see being that V-Ray now runs through a number of irradiance map passes before rendering with each pass, refining the GI solution as it adds more and more radiant samples to the light map that is being built. Finally, we get a finished GI render from the system with the end result so far as light levels are concerned, being very similar in look to the brute force option that we just considered.
