Illuminating with an environment color
- One of the primary ways of illuminating a scene is with light objects such as these photometric rectangle lights. Another primary method is through the 3ds Max scene environment. That environment can be anything from a flat color to a high dynamic range image to a physical simulation of day lighting. The simplest form of environment is a flat color. So let's start with that. I'll launch active shades so we can see an interactive production rendering and we'll isolate the environment by disabling the lights we have in the scene. I'll select one of those rectangle lights go to the Modify panel and in the General Parameters disable the On switch that turns off all the lights because they're instances. Now let's go into the Environment window that'll be found in the Rendering menu Rendering environment. We previously saw this window when we adjusted the Exposure Control.
