- [Instructor] In the previous movies we saw that Arnold automatically converts a 3DS max environment to an implicit sky dome. We can achieve the same results with an explicit light object in the scene, and this has the advantage of immediate feedback in ActiveShade. Remember that the ActiveShade rendering does not respond to any changes in the render set up dialog. Meaning that if you make changes to the environment settings, or anything else in this window, you're forced to re-render. But there's no such limitation with an Arnold light, and you'll get immediate feedback in ActiveShade. While we're here I'll just do a rendering to show you that there are no lights and no environment in the scene currently, so we're just getting a black screen. Let's create an Arnold sky dome, the thing to know about sky domes is that although the position of the object does not effect the lighting, the rotation does, and so to ensure the correct orientation, let's create the object by snapping to the…
