Improving edge smoothing with Weighted Normals modifier

- [Instructor] The Weighted Normals modifier gives us more control than ever over polygon edge smoothing. And this is especially helpful in the context of low level of detail polygon geometry. With Weighted Normals, we can better approximate a high level of detail. In this scene, I have two rocks, a high level of detail with about 15,000 polygons and a low level of detail with only about 300 polygons. Because the high LOD rock has sufficient polygon detail and no sharp corners anywhere, we don't need to concern ourselves too much with the edge smoothing. We can just drop all the polygons into the same smoothing group using the Editable Poly tools or the Smooth modifier. That will soften up all the polygon edges. I'll select that high LOD rock. Go to the modify panel. And from the Modifier List, scroll down and add a Smooth modifier. To put them all into the same smoothing group, enable Auto Smooth and set the threshold…
