- [Instructor] In last week's movie, we saw how to apply the halftone dots map for this cool non-photorealistic rendering affect, which resembles halftone printing. If this were an actual halftone print, then the size of the dots would be controlled by the brightness of the color at that location. And that would include the lighting in whatever photograph or drawing that was driving that halftone pattern. However, currently that's not the case. The lighting in the scene is not affecting the size of the dots. And traditionally, in 3DS Max, there was no way to incorporate scene lighting into a shading network. But now with the introduction of Arnold, we finally do have that ability. We can use the diffused lighting in the scene to control the size of the dots on the character and on the backdrop. So let's open up the Material Editor, and we've got two materials here currently, we've got the character and the wall.…
