Lighting a scene with an environment map
- [Instructor] For testing materials we actually really need to have some kind of lighting in our scene. So that we don't have to fuss with setting up a whole bunch of lights in our scene, we can just drop in an environment map to provide illumination and reflections. To do that, we'll go into the rendering menu and choose environment. Within this window, we can set a flat color for the background or we can set an environment map. This can show up in renderings or in the viewport, optionally. Click on the big button labeled none. A new window pops up, called the material map browser. These are all different shading maps that we can apply. We want to use a Bitmap that's already on disc. Select Bitmap and click okay. Then, we get the select Bitmap image file dialog and we're taken to our current projects scene assets folder and a sub-folder labeled images. Within there, I've got an image. It's called sky HIFI sun and a whole bunch of stuff after that and it's a .exr document. We want to…
