Managing scene materials
- [Narrator] In this version of the drone model, I've added a couple more materials to illustrate how scene materials work in 3ds Max. I'll reopen the material editor. And you can see in the view, I've got a couple more material nodes that are all physical materials. And these materials are all assigned onto objects in the scene. However, there's no direct relationship between what we see in the view here, and what materials are actually used in the scene. In the material map browser, if we scroll down near the bottom, we'll see a section labeled scene materials. And as the name indicates, that tells us exactly what is in the scene. And these materials are actually instanced into the scene. That is if, for example, I double click on this drone propellor node and change its base color to something else, that is reflected in the scene. Because again, these materials are instanced in the scene. But just because they're present in the scene, does not mean that they need to be present in…
